The project was to redesign Design and the Play Instinct by Paul Rand. I was given the text and illustrations that came with the book. In this project, I really enjoyed working with the restrictions, in terms of the content, but also having the freedom to create a completely new design based on my own style. During the design process, I was able to visualize the boundary and learned to really push that limit in order to the book overflow with my aesthetic. I believe that this is also the message Paul Rand was trying to convey through his idea of “play”.
